Painting wild places...
Mural: Day 12 - Am I Really Done?
I went to my mural site today intending to spend just a little time finishing up the 4th wall, and then to start the process of putting a clear, protective coat on all of them. But I ended up fiddling with little things for the whole day. Every time I thought I could say I was done, I'd look over at another wall and see something I wanted to fix. That led to another and another... I think I'll know if I'm done when I can go an hour without "fixing" anything! Or when my brain tells me finally, it doesn't matter, it looks good as is.
I tried a different approach to photographing the completed mural - I did the corners! I also wanted to take a careful look at the corners and see how they looked. I did not do anything special or try to paint a transition from one wall to the next. They are 4 distinct scenes with different skies and different lighting on the landscape. A couple of the corners may look like they could go from one into the other, but they don't. Taking a photo and examining it - without the other distractions in view, helps me focus on really studying it. I also think it will be easier to successfully photograph the completed walls when the tape and plastic are removed, the 3 foot high platform is removed, the wood panelling completed, and one can stand in the doorways and look up at them. I'll close out this story when that happens. In the meantime, here are the 4 corner views. Imagine you are standing in the center of the room, and you turn to your right each time for each corner.
