Painting wild places...

The Gift of Art

Original artwork can be a great gift - if you know the recipients tastes and decorating style! I would love it if hordes of people came to me seeking gifts for friends or family members. I'd like to think my paintings of the Adirondacks strongly appeal to hikers, fishermen, hunters, paddlers, and others who enjoy outdoor recreation activities. People who grew up here, or live here now, or have 2nd homes - seems like they all would want one of my paintings! But if that was the case, I would not have such a huge inventory of paintings at my home/studio. I don't even often give artwork to my friends and family! The reason why is we can't impose our tastes upon someone else, no matter how close a friend or family member. Artwork is a personal choice. I create paintings because I am moved by places I visit and I want to record my experience in paint. For someone else to be attracted to one of my paintings, they need to be moved by that painting!

So, working with Square - the creator of the little device that connects to smart phones and allows you to accept credit card payments - I am now offering eGift Cards! Instead of trying to figure out what painting someone might like, you can send them an eGift Card and they can pick out their own gift! You have to click a link to go to a Square website where you can purchase an eGift Card specifically designed by me, for use on my website or in person at my studio. When you purchase one, you provide the email address of the recipient and the eGift Card is sent to them. They will need to bring their email to my studio (on a smart phone is fine), or call me with the eGift Card number and I can use it to process a sale. It will also work to pay for a commissioned piece.

Even though I use traditional oil paints, on traditional linen canvases, and I paint wild landscapes in a historically traditional style - I've jumped into the digital world for sales! I'll even include free shipping on any eGift Card purchase. Just mention you read about this on my blog!

Happy Thanksgiving!
