"Adirondack Air" - Upcoming Show in June

Delivered 22 paintings to the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts in Blue Mountain Lake yesterday, including this 30x40" painting of Lake Placid from the summit of Whiteface Mt. I'll be having a show there for the month of June. I decided to call it "Adirondack Air" because that's what I paint! Plein air means painting outdoors, in the open air, and that's what I do. I've assembled a group of plein air paintings from all seasons of the year, including some from the Blue Mountain Lake area. Most of those were done when I was an "artist-in-residence" at the Adirondack Museum, now Adirondack Experience. I would get up at dawn and start a plein air painting, getting a few hours work in on it, then bring it to the museum and set up in a shady spot and finish it. After I was done at 3 or 4 pm, I'd go back out and paint again somewhere. It's a wonderful experience to be able to do nothing except paint all day - and be outdoors in the Adirondacks. There will be a reception and gallery talk on June 29, 5 - 7 pm.

I'll also be taking part in the ArtWorks Studio Tours again this year. I'll be open the last Saturday of each month, June - November, and so the first one will be June 30, from 10 - 5. I invite anyone interested to stop by as I love being able to tell the stories about my paintings. When in a gallery there is usually just the title and price displayed, but they all have stories behind them. And you can see all the latest stuff I'm working on. However, if you just call ahead/email, I will welcome visitors any time you can actually catch me at home! Spring has moved rapidly into summer here in the northern Adirondacks, so I've been outside as much as possible - before our black flies arrive....

Painting Forever Wild...
