I have hiked past this ancient white pine on the Boreal Life Trail at the Paul Smith's College VIC for more than 20 years. It compares, in size, to some nearby trees estimated to have started growing in 1675. What stories it could tell! But I fear it is not long for this earth. It's top has been snapped off and the trunk is deteriorating, but it still towers over it's neighbors. Painted during the 2018 Adirondack Plein Air Festival.
