This view of "The Crown of the Continent", looking across Lake MacDonald, is a Glacier Park favorite. I visited it almost every day while I here, because it's always different. This year, especially, because the Sprague fire was burning just up from the eastern shore of the lake. Clouds of smoke were billowing at the far end of the lake and along the right side. Roads were closed and the historic structures like MacDonald Lodge were being protected by sprinkler systems. The Sperry Chalet, had already burned. Almost 17,000 acres have burned, since early August, but it is a natural process for the wild forest. Here's the link to the webcam at Lake MacDonald. Painted during the Hockaday Museum of Art "Paint-Out" at the end of September 2017. Note: I will continue to donate 10% from every purchase of a National Park painting to the National Park Foundation, through the "Paint the Parks" program.
