Exhibit scheduled for March - May 2004
In May of 2003, when I was offered a chance to have a solo exhibition at the VIC, I decided to concentrate on painting outdoors, on location, and made a committment to produce at least 2 paintings per month, for an entire year. All of them to be done at various locations on the VIC property. So far I have accomplished the following paintings in watercolors and oils, and have discovered I love painting outdoors. It is so much more dynamic and engaging than working from photographs. We'll have to see what the colder weather does to those feelings! These paintings for the most part are not as detailed as my other work, but are much more vibrant and alive. Instead of capturing the single moment of time that a photograph portrays, these paintings are all about the passage of time - clouds moving, light changing, trees and ripples altered by the wind. It was an enjoyable year.
