This painting was inspired
by
the discovery
of the dead carcass of this deer along railroad tracks in the midwest.
It was unclear how he died, but his massive rack had a single small
hole
in it, which could have been from a bullet shot by an unlucky hunter.
This
deer had apparently survived many years and no one had ever reported
seeing
him.
