grinnel glacier, glacier national parkGlacier National Park Paintings

In August of 2009 I had the great pleasure of leading a 7 day hiking trip, for members of the Adirondack Mountain Club, in Montana's magnificent Glacier National Park. I brought my paints with me but had very little time to paint, plus it rained for 5 days!

Captivated by these glacier carved mountains, I returned in September 2010 to lead a second ADK hike and this time went several days early in order to have time to paint.

The painting on the left was done from my photographs after my 2009 trip. The rest of the paintings were all done "en plein air" on my second trip. These are all oils, I also did several watercolors in my sketchbook.

Put Glacier National Park on your to-do list - the glaciers are predicted to be gone within 30 years, due to climate change.
